Trigger for Theo Steiner: “Triumph”
The triumphal arch is a symbol of the metropolis of Paris. It was commissioned by Napoleon. Under the bow, the tomb of the unknown soldier from the First World War lies with the daily eternal flame to commemorate all the dead that have never been identified. In French, it is called “flame du souvenir” (literally: flame of memory). The triumphal arch served the fame of the imperial armies and now appears to some as the “altar of the fatherland”, on which the most solemn state ceremonies of France take place.
My mission to you is: Find not only pictures of the national triumph and victory, but also expand your search to personal, victorious “altars” of the Parisian population.
