Heiße! Quellen!
A participatory photo exhibition
Fourteen people from Wiesbaden roamed the streets with cameras and rediscovered their city in a workshop. Inspired by a story that is open to associations, they looked for motifs in the urban space that fit the theme: It was about hot springs in the figurative sense – about situations that exude energy. On forays with their cameras, they found places of power, hotspots or even sources of interference.
In German, “Heiße Quellen” means “hot springs”, but “Quelle” also means “source” in a more figurative sense, and therefore the task was not to find sources of bubbling hot water, but rather all kinds of places and situations that are sources of some kind of energy. The photo project focuses on active engagement with your own city. The workshop encouraged participants to actively explore their surroundings and express their perspectives and experiences through photography. The project aims at the aspect of participation, which is an essential part of democracy: every voice counts and is heard.
The results of the workshop can be seen in an exhibition from September 24th, 2024–March 2nd, 2025 in the sam – Stadtmuseum am Markt in Wiesbaden.
